The circuit logic
Full loops run Hakodate to Sapporo along the rail spine or by driven car, folding in what the season offers. Distances are honest - this island is a fifth of Japan - so we build around one base per three nights and let the landscape do the moving. For clients who have done the Golden Route, Hokkaido is the second Japan that feels like a first.

How many nights does a Hokkaido chapter need?
Ski weeks: five to seven at one resort with a Sapporo bookend. Summer circuits: four to six covering Sapporo, Furano-Biei and Otaru. Full northern loops adding Hakodate stretch toward eight. Less than three nights wastes the flight north.
Winter self-drive or driven?
Driven, almost always: icy roads, snow squalls and short days argue for our winter-certified drivers, leaving clients the scenery. Summer flips the answer - the Furano-Biei farm roads are Japan's best gentle self-drive for confident clients.
